About the event

Ryan Lawless’ music is a tantalizing fusion of R&B, Rock n’ Roll, and Classic Country. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Bonnie Raitt, ZZ Top, and Tab Benoit, Lawless’s musical journey is deeply rooted in these rich traditions. His distinct style is a soulful roux, infusing his music with depth and flavor, creating a musical gumbo that’s a feast for the ears.

His latest release, “New Gold,” exudes a laid-back vibe, featuring infectious grooves, soulful harmonies, and an abundance of B3, baby grand, and Fender Rhodes piano sounds to satisfy any musical palate. Produced by Ryan Lawless, the seven-track album was recorded at E.A.R. Studios in Austin, TX, and mixed by James Stevens (Uncle Lucius).

The opening track, “Daydream,” reflects on feeling trapped in a routine but finding solace and beauty in the small things. There’s some hope sprinkled in too. “That low light glow Slowly gleams Brighter and brighter Than what’s hidden in its seams It sings like the rain Down upon the cold Where that ole wind blows”

One can’t help but think of music from artists like Bob Dylan, Lou Reed or even Donavon Frankenreiter, especially when listening to “Amber” and “Ressurect”.

Born in Austin, TX, Ryan grew up in SW Houston, but migrated from Austin to Houston, New Orleans, and back again throughout his formative years. At 8 years old, working for the family business, All Star Audio Video, Lawless started playing guitar and showing a strong interest in creating his own music. Selling speakers and audio gear, Ryan preferred to play music from Lou Rawls and Steely Dan when he provided a speaker demo. During that period, he developed an appreciation for the groovy and meticulously crafted music of the 1970s.

A lifelong fan of Texas Troubadours, Texas Blues, Zydeco, and Cajun, Choral, and Gospel, Ryan has performed his original music at concerts and festivals all around Texas and the US. Earning his bachelor’s degree in music composition from Texas State University, with a specialization in combining stylistic elements of classical and jazz guitar, he is a seasoned soldier of the stage and studio.

Come enjoy the evening with Ryan at Bear Hall in Crockett, Texas on Saturday July 6th, 2024, from 7-10pm. No Cover 18+
